📊 India Skill and Future Potential
Only 4.7% of Indias workforce formally skilled.
India has only about 4.7% of formally skilled workforce while South Korea has 96% and Pakistan and Bangladesh has about 27% and Nepal & Sri Lanka has about 40%. India ranks 129 out of 162 countries in the world in terms of skilled workforce. Nearly 1.2 Million Indian youth enter into the workforce annually. The Government of India has announced a total outlay of 2 lakh crores over the next five years for skill development and related activities. Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has received an allocation of Rs.38,746.3 Crores for the current year of FY2025-26. India has more than 8 Million workforce in the Gulf Countries and the demand is growing by about 28~30%. Indian workforce are migrating in large number to various countries of the world, depending on the level of their skill set; ranging from unskilled to highly skilled.
The numbers are clear indication of the Govt of India focus on equipping India’s youth with industry relevant skills to meet the demand of a rapidly changing Indian economy.
